Motorcycle tours Italy: part 1
This motorcycle tours Italy guide has the intent to provide a list of places to visit riding a motorcycle. Let’s be honest, visiting Italy is a dream, doing it on a motorcycle is even better.
With its mountain sights and sea areas, Italy provides visiting opportunities for all tastes.
Let’s see what Italy’s northern and center regions have to offer.
Friuli-Venezia Giulia
We decided to start our motorcycle tours Italy guide from the north. Between Friuli and the Venezia Giulia, this region is perfect for the beginners and for the most experienced riders.
Venezia Giulia must visit places are the beach areas and the historic towns.
Friuli, on the other hand, has the Passo di Monte Croce Carnico, the Zoncolan mountain, the Passo Mauria, and the Val d’Aupa.
Motorcycle tours Italy: Veneto
This region must have been included in our motorcycle tours Italy guide. I mean, beside Venezia, this is the region of the Dolomiti. That’s right, the dolomiti area offers some of the best roads the world (yup, I said it) has to offer. Plus, there are the Serrai del Sottoguda, Bocca di Navene, and – when off the motorcycle – breathtaking places like: la strada delle 52 gallerie, and Montagnana e Marostica Villages.
Lombardia
This region is so full of roads, that it would take a lifetime to visit them all. The best of them all are the Passo dello Stelvio, the Passo Gavia, the Passo del Mortirolo and the Strada della Forra. Basically, you will be able to find bendy roads everywhere you go.
Piemonte
Its hills and the Alps, grant this region a place inside our motorcycle tours Italy guide. The best riding places are the areas of the lakes: Lago Maggiore e lago d’Orta.
Piemonte is not only that, but also the Langhe, the Roero and the Monferrato.
Lots to visit and lots of breathtaking roads await you in Piemonte.
Liguria
This region is capable to amaze every kind of biker thanks to its sights: perfect transitioning between mountains and sea.
By motorcycle, the best places to visit are Passo della Cisa and Colle del Melogno. Once off the motorcycle, Cinque Terre are the place to visit. You can leave the motorcycle in La Spezia e take a train to the Cinque Terre from there. Do not get me wrong, you can visit them by motorcycle, but it is way easier by train.
Motorcycle tours Italy: Toscana
Another beautiful region that must be included in our motorcycle tours Italy. Toscana is the home of Passo del Muraglione, of Passo della Futa, the Chianti roads, the Falterona Mountain, and the Amiata montain. All this surrounded by famous Tuscan sights. Needless to say, Florence, Siena, Pisa and Arezzo are a must visit.
Abruzzo
This region is situated in the heart of the Appennini; Abruzzo expands from the Gran Sasso peaks to the coast of the Adriatico.
This is the home of the breathtaking Gole del Sagittario, of the Majella, of the Forca d’acero and of the road to Campo Imperatore. Must visit places for this region are: Pescasseroli, Sulmona and Scanno.
Motorcycle tours Italy: Campania
This region is inside our Italian motorcycle itinerary guide not only because of the Costiera Amalfitana. While it is true that the Costiera represents one of the best area of Campania, is also true that this region is full of other treasures, places like: Parco Nazionale dei Monti Picentini, the Irpinia, and the Gole del Calore. Plus, did you know it was possible to ride in Ischia? That’s right, it takes about an hour to ride the whole island and it is wonderful because it give you the chance to see sights that you wouldn’t be able to see in any other way. Definitely worth going.
Our little talk about the best locations to visit in Italy ends here. We have not put down specific road maps, miles, and riding times because we wanted you to pick the locations you want to start with and visit at your own pace.
Italy has more regions than the ones showed in this article, regions that have incredible roads. Is there any road you would want us to talk in the part 2?
Let us know in the comments.
