Harley-Davidson Nightster 440

Harley-Davidson Nightster 440

Following the wave of enthusiasm created by the X440, we are likely to see a Harley-Davidson Nightster 440  in 2024. Let’s talk about it.

The market

The small motorcycle segment is on fire at the moment. The heat is coming from the Asian market where this segment generates incredibly high sales volumes.
It comes with no surprise that all major motorcycle manufacturers are jumping on that market: Honda, TVS, Suzuki, Bajaj, KTM, Yezdi, BMW, Hero and last but not least, Triumph (which reached 10.000 orders in the 10 days after the launch of its new 400 models).

The numbers reached by Triumph are an index of how this market works. Its potential – in the eyes of the manufacturers – justifies investing on new platforms and on a new global approach.

Harley-Davidson Nightster 440 rumors

While it is true that news of models specifically created for those markets are relatively interesting for us, it is also true that is more and more possible to spot motorcycles considered “small” in the global market. Therefore, learning that Hero registered the “Nightster 400” name makes everyone excited: it will be the first time for the company to have a “small” motorcycle for the asian market sharing the name used for models – in this case Nightster 975 and 975 S – already available on the global market.

Rumors say that the Harley-Davidson Nightster 440 will share the same platform as the X440. Therefore, we are expecting to see everything that is equipped on the X440 with the same mono motor capable of producing 27HP at 6000 rpm and 38nm or torque at 4000 rpm. All that,  with a more sporty look: I am gessing a 19 inches front wheel.

Our thoughts on the Harley-Davidson Nightster 440

If the Harley-Davidson Nightster 440 will be really destined to the global market, I’d say it is a daring project. Last time that Harley Davidson attempted to do something like this, it was with the Street/Street Rod 750 and 500 models… We all know how that ended: H-D enthusiasts did not like the two models one bit and  Harley Davidson was forced to stop production and not sell them anymore.

That being said, it is very true that today’s situation looks different and that the motorcycle world is more welcoming when it comes to entry level motorcycles. This Harley-Davidson Nightster 440 model could be the perfect entry level for the Milwaukee company. Don’t you think? Let us know in the comments
